    Arrival in Paro – Transfer to Thimphu

    Welcome to Bhutan! Upon arrival at Paro International Airport, you will be greeted by your guide and driver. The journey begins with a scenic drive along the Paro and Thimphu rivers to Bhutan’s capital city. After lunch, visit the impressive Buddha Dordenma, one of the largest seated Buddha statues in the world, offering spectacular views of the Thimphu Valley. Continue to the National Memorial Chorten, a popular place where locals gather for prayers and meditation. Stroll through the city center and experience Bhutan’s unique blend of tradition and modernity. Highlights: Scenic drive from Paro to Thimphu, Buddha Dordenma, Memorial Chorten & Thimphu Town Walk. Distance: 55 km | Driving Time: 1.5 Hours Overnight: Thimphu (2320m)

    Discover Thimphu

    After breakfast, explore Bhutan’s vibrant capital city. Visit the Traditional School of Arts and Crafts where students learn Bhutan’s thirteen traditional arts. Continue to the Folk Heritage Museum to gain insights into Bhutanese rural life and traditions. Visit the Motithang Takin Preserve, home to Bhutan’s national animal, the Takin. Later, explore the Centenary Farmers Market, where local farmers sell fresh produce and traditional products. End the day with a visit to Tashichho Dzong, the administrative and religious center of Bhutan.     Thimphu – Punakha via Dochula Pass

    Drive to Punakha, crossing the spectacular Dochula Pass (3,100m). On a clear day, enjoy breathtaking views of the eastern Himalayas and the famous 108 chortens. Descending into the warmer Punakha Valley, visit Chimi Lhakhang, also known as the Fertility Temple. Walk through rice fields and traditional villages before reaching the temple. In the afternoon, visit the magnificent Punakha Dzong, strategically located at the confluence of two rivers. End the day with a walk across Bhutan’s longest suspension bridge. Highlights: Dochula Pass 108 Memorial Chortens, Chimi Lhakhang, Punakha Dzong & Suspension Bridge. Distance: 75 km | Driving Time: 2.5 Hours Overnight: Punakha (1250m)

    Explore Punakha Valley

    Today begins with a scenic hike to Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten. The trail winds through rice terraces and offers beautiful views of the valley below. The chorten is one of Bhutan’s finest examples of religious architecture. Later, visit traditional villages and experience daily Bhutanese life. Enjoy interactions with local families and learn about farming practices in the fertile Punakha Valley. Optional activities include a farmhouse visit or a traditional hot stone bath. Highlights: Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten Hike, Rice Terraces, Village Walk & Farmhouse Experience. Overnight: Punakha (1250m)

    Punakha – Phobjikha Valley

    Travel east to the pristine Phobjikha Valley, one of Bhutan’s most beautiful glacial valleys and winter home of the endangered Black-Necked Cranes. Visit Gangtey Monastery, an important center of Nyingma Buddhism. Later, enjoy the famous Gangtey Nature Trail, a gentle walk through pine forests, open meadows, and traditional villages with stunning valley views. Visit the Black-Necked Crane Information Centre to learn about conservation efforts and the unique ecosystem of the valley. Highlights: Gangtey Monastery, Gangtey Nature Trail, Black-Necked Crane Center & Scenic Valley Landscapes. Distance: 80 km | Driving Time: 3 Hours Overnight: Phobjikha (2900m)

    Phobjikha – Trongsa – Bumthang

    Continue your journey into central Bhutan. Cross the Pele La Pass (3,420m), traditionally considered the boundary between western and central Bhutan. Stop at Chendebji Chorten, a beautiful stupa modeled after Nepal’s famous Boudhanath. Continue to Trongsa, where you will visit the impressive Trongsa Dzong, the ancestral home of Bhutan’s royal family. After lunch, drive over Yotong La Pass before arriving in Bumthang, often referred to as the spiritual heartland of Bhutan. Highlights: Pele La Pass, Chendebji Chorten, Trongsa Dzong & Yotong La Pass. Distance: 160 km | Driving Time: 6 Hours Overnight: Bumthang (2600m)

    Sacred Bumthang Valley

    Explore some of Bhutan’s oldest and most sacred temples. Visit Jambay Lhakhang, one of 108 temples built by Tibetan King Songtsen Gampo in the 7th century. Continue to Kurjey Lhakhang, where Guru Rinpoche left his body imprint on a cave wall. Visit Tamshing Monastery, known for its ancient Buddhist paintings, and Jakar Dzong, overlooking the valley. End the day with a visit to local handicraft and food production centers. Highlights: Jambay Lhakhang, Kurjey Lhakhang, Tamshing Monastery & Jakar Dzong. Overnight: Bumthang (2600m)

    Explore Bumthang Valley

    Enjoy another day exploring the spiritual heartland of Bhutan. Visit the picturesque Ura Valley, one of the country's most traditional villages, surrounded by rolling hills and beautiful landscapes. On the return journey, stop at Mebar Tsho (Burning Lake), one of Bhutan's most sacred pilgrimage sites.     Bumthang to Paro (Flight) or Paro via Punakha (Drive)

    Option 1: Domestic Flight to Paro Flight Duration: Approximately 35 Minutes After breakfast, transfer to Bumthang Airport for your domestic flight to Paro. Upon arrival, begin exploring Paro Valley with visits to the National Museum (Ta Dzong), Rinpung Dzong, and a stroll through the charming town center. Highlights: Scenic flight over the Himalayas, National Museum (Ta Dzong), Rinpung Dzong & Paro Town Walk. Overnight: Paro (2280m) Option 2: Overland Journey (Day 8 & Day 9) Day 8: Bumthang → Punakha Distance: 205 km | Driving Time: 6–7 Hours Travel through central Bhutan, crossing Yotong La Pass and Pele La Pass before arriving in Punakha. Overnight: Punakha Day 9: Punakha → Paro Drive through Dochula Pass to Paro. Upon arrival, visit the National Museum and Rinpung Dzong before exploring Paro town.     Hike to Tiger's Nest Monastery

    Hiking Distance: 12 km Round Trip Duration: 5–6 Hours. Today, hike to Bhutan's most iconic landmark, Tiger's Nest Monastery (Taktsang), dramatically perched on a cliff 900 meters above the Paro Valley. The trail passes through pine forests, prayer flags, and spectacular viewpoints before reaching the sacred monastery, one of the most revered pilgrimage sites in the Himalayas. Highlights: Tiger's Nest Monastery, Panoramic Paro Valley Views, Sacred Buddhist Pilgrimage Site & Scenic Forest Hike. Overnight: Paro (2280m)

    Departure from Paro

    After breakfast, transfer to Paro International Airport for your onward flight. Distance: 10 km | Drive Time: 15 Minutes Bid farewell to the Kingdom of Bhutan with unforgettable memories of its culture, people, and Himalayan landscapes. End of Tour Note Guests choosing the flight option will enjoy an additional night in Bumthang and fly to Paro on Day 9. Guests choosing the overland option will depart Bumthang on Day 8, overnight in Punakha, and continue to Paro on Day 9. This allows both options to arrive in Paro on the same day and continue the itinerary together.
