Arrival in Paro – Drive to Thimphu
Your Bhutan adventure begins with a spectacular flight into Paro Valley, offering breathtaking views of the Himalayan peaks. Upon arrival, your guide and driver will welcome you and begin the scenic drive to Thimphu, Bhutan’s charming capital city. After lunch, visit the massive Buddha Dordenma statue overlooking the valley. Continue to the National Memorial Chorten, where locals gather daily for prayers and circumambulation. In the evening, enjoy a leisurely walk through Thimphu's main street, exploring local cafés, handicraft stores, and markets. Discover Thimphu
After breakfast, spend the day exploring Bhutan's capital. Visit the Motithang Takin Preserve, home to Bhutan's unique national animal. Continue to the Folk Heritage Museum and the Traditional Arts School, where students learn Bhutan's ancient artistic traditions. After lunch, visit the impressive Tashichho Dzong, the seat of Bhutan's government and monastic body. Later, visit the local market and witness daily life in Bhutan's only capital city. Thimphu to Punakha via Dochula Pass
After breakfast, drive towards Punakha. Stop at the beautiful Dochula Pass. On clear days, enjoy panoramic views of the snow-capped eastern Himalayas and explore the famous 108 memorial chortens. Descending into the warmer Punakha Valley, visit the sacred fertility temple, Chimi Lhakhang. Enjoy a pleasant walk through rice paddies and traditional villages before reaching the temple. Punakha Sightseeing
This morning, visit the magnificent Punakha Dzong, often considered Bhutan's most beautiful fortress. Located at the confluence of two rivers, the dzong is a masterpiece of Bhutanese architecture and an important historical landmark. Continue to Bhutan's longest suspension bridge, offering spectacular views over the Pho Chhu River. After lunch, hike to the stunning Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten. Punakha to Phobjikha Valley
Today, travel to the breathtaking Phobjikha Valley, one of Bhutan's most beautiful glacial valleys. Upon arrival, visit the historic Gangtey Monastery, perched on a hill overlooking the valley floor. After lunch, enjoy the famous Gangtey Nature Trail. Walking Distance: 4.5 km | Walking Time: 1.5 Hours | The trail winds through forests, open meadows, and traditional villages while offering spectacular valley views. After breakfast, begin the scenic drive back to Paro through forests, mountain passes, and river valleys. Upon arrival in Paro, visit: Rinpung Dzong & National Museum of Bhutan. Hike to Tiger's Nest Monastery
After an early breakfast, embark on Bhutan's most famous hike to the legendary Tiger's Nest Monastery. Clinging dramatically to a cliff face 900 meters above the valley floor, Tiger's Nest is Bhutan's most sacred monastery. According to legend, Guru Rinpoche flew to this site on the back of a tigress and meditated here in the 8th century. The trail climbs through fragrant pine forests decorated with prayer flags before reaching breathtaking viewpoints and the monastery itself. Spend time exploring the sacred temples and meditation caves before descending back to the valley. In the evening, enjoy a traditional Bhutanese farewell dinner.
