   Arrival in Bhutan | Paro to Thimphu

   Upon arrival at Paro International Airport, guests will be warmly welcomed by your Bhutanese guide and driver. The flight into Bhutan offers breathtaking Himalayan mountain views and is considered one of the most scenic flights in the world. After immigration formalities, begin your scenic drive to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan. The road follows beautiful river valleys, pine forests, prayer flags, and traditional Bhutanese villages. In the evening, enjoy a relaxing walk through Thimphu town and experience the peaceful atmosphere of Bhutan’s capital city. Sightseeing Highlights Memorial Chorten — One of Bhutan’s most sacred monuments built in memory of the Third King of Bhutan.    Thimphu Tshechu Festival Experience

   Today is one of the major highlights of the journey as guests attend the colorful Bhutanese Tshechu Festival. Tshechu festivals are sacred Buddhist celebrations held annually in monasteries and dzongs across Bhutan. Monks perform traditional mask dances representing spiritual stories, protection rituals, and Buddhist teachings. Bhutanese people believe attending these festivals brings blessings and spiritual purification.    Drive to Punakha via Dochula Pass

   After breakfast, drive toward the beautiful Punakha Valley crossing the scenic Dochula Pass (3,100m). (Dochula Pass) One of Bhutan’s most scenic mountain passes, Dochula is famous for its 108 memorial stupas built in honor of Bhutanese soldiers. On clear days, guests can enjoy panoramic views of the snow-capped eastern Himalayas. Continue the journey descending into the warm and fertile Punakha Valley. Sightseeing Highlights Punakha Dzong — Considered the most beautiful fortress in Bhutan, built in 1637 between the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers. The dzong played a major role in Bhutanese history and remains one of the country’s most important religious sites. Punakha Suspension Bridge — One of Bhutan’s longest suspension bridges decorated with colorful prayer flags and surrounded by scenic valley views.    Today explore the cultural and spiritual highlights of Punakha Valley. Sightseeing Highlights Chimi Lhakhang — Also known as the Temple of Fertility, this sacred monastery is associated with the famous Buddhist saint Drukpa Kunley, known as the “Divine Madman” for his unconventional teachings and humor. Traditional Bhutanese Village Walk — Experience rural Bhutanese life surrounded by rice terraces, farmhouses, and peaceful countryside landscapes. National Museum of Bhutan — Formerly a watchtower protecting Paro Dzong, the museum now displays Bhutanese art, history, weapons, textiles, and religious artifacts. Kichu Lhakhang — One of the oldest temples in Bhutan built in the 7th century by Tibetan King Songtsen Gampo to spread Buddhism across the Himalayas.    Tiger’s Nest Monastery Hike

   Today hike to Bhutan’s most iconic landmark — Taktsang Monastery, famously known as Tiger’s Nest. Perched dramatically on a cliffside 900 meters above the Paro Valley, this sacred monastery is one of the most important pilgrimage sites in the Himalayan Buddhist world. According to legend, Guru Rinpoche flew to this location on the back of a tigress and meditated here in the 8th century, bringing Buddhism to Bhutan. The hike offers: Beautiful pine forest trails, Prayer flags and waterfalls, Panoramic mountain views, Sacred meditation caves & Incredible photography opportunities.
